Two Working Keys For This Honda Civic
The owner of this Honda Civic in Blackfield had one working key and wanted a dependable spare before that single key became a more urgent problem.

Ignition barrel failure is one of the more common Honda faults. The key starts to stick, turns only part way, or eventually won't turn at all. It's usually the barrel wearing internally rather than the key. The barrel is tested at the car, then repaired or replaced, so your existing key keeps working where possible.
If your Honda key has started needing a wiggle to turn, don't wait for it to fail completely. A stiff barrel is cheaper to deal with before it seizes. See Ignition Repair.

Honda's keyless fobs aren't interchangeable. Each is made for particular models and markets, and a fob with the wrong part number won't program, however similar it looks. That's why we identify the car from its registration and supply the matching key, and why a cheap online fob often ends up in a drawer.
Once the correct key is in hand, Honda key programming pairs the keyless entry, the start button and the remote, and each is tested at the car. See Car Key Programming.

Call About Your HondaHonda key work, at your vehicle in the New Forest.
With a working key present, a Honda spare key is the quickest job: the new key is cut, coded and registered as its own key. Honda key replacement after every key is lost is still done at the car, but it takes longer, and the lost key can usually be deleted at the same visit. See Spare Car Keys and Lost Car Keys.

Honda remote keys often crack along the case or wear through the button rubber long before the electronics give up. In that state, the circuit board and chip can usually be moved into a new case, keeping the original programming, so no Honda key programming is needed afterwards. It's cheaper than a new key and done at the car. If the key also catches in the ignition, the Honda ignition barrel is checked at the same visit. See Broken Car Keys.

The Jazz and older Civic mostly use remote keys with a blade, which is where ignition wear tends to show. Newer Civics and the CR-V often use keyless fobs. Each model page covers its own generations, so it's worth checking yours for the faults most likely to affect it. If you're not sure which key your Honda uses, a photo of it is enough for us to identify it.
